Entry to the Museum is free so take this opportunity to bring your kids here and learn about this exciting city and it's past.

Children/Family activities

There's plenty to enjoy with the whole family. There's a special gallery for very young children where they can watch 1950s kid's TV shows in black and white and see the incredible difference between the change in life for children when new toys became available. Some activities include games like 'Colour Hunt' where you choose a colour or material and then as you go around the gallery, you find objects that are the same colour or material. Another game to test your memory and see how much you have learnt is 'Remember, remember' where you study a single case of objects and at the end of the visit, you see how many objects you can remember. There are free activity sheets for children that you can print off at home and bring with you and a backpack for kids aged under 5 that you can pick up from the front desk, filled with games and toys to make the experience more exciting for your children and keep them occupied.

Sit and unwind at one of the Museum's excellent cafes or restaurants that offer a wide range of hot and cold meals, fresh sandwiches, salads, treats like cakes and hot drinks like fair-trade tea or coffee! The cafes offer a kid's menu, highchairs and a buggy room. The restaurants also have a kid's menu and highchairs as well as an offer where kids get to eat for free!

There are designated wheelchair accessible public toilets available.
