London Wetland Centre

The London Wetland Centre, located in Barnes, is the perfect place to explore nature and wildlife. There is a lot to see in this 105-acre haven such as taking a stroll along the beautiful walkways, lakes and gardens and spotting fascinating creatures like birds, water voles, amphibians, bats, butterflies and many more!

Children & Family activities

Explore the collection of water birds from around the world as well as the children's area which has a few hides to view the wild birds. Kids will love watching the otters during feeding time and learning about them through the commentary that is provided. Head up to the Observatory for a wonderful panoramic view of the reserve and watch the surrounding wildlife. Wander through reeds and stepping logs and get to the wobbly rope bridge without getting wet! Kids can also have lots of fun at the adventure playground that features zip wires and slides, a climbing wall, bridges to cross and water vole tunnels to play in.
The indoor Discovery Centre is great for rainy days where children can play a variety of interactive games and puzzles and operate underwater cameras in the Pond Zone to see what's living in the pool. The staff-led pond dipping session is also exciting as children get to try to catch frogs or water scorpions.

Food & Drink

The Kingfisher Kitchen is an indoor cafe with beautiful views of nature and offers a variety of home-made hot and cold meals. There's also hot and cold drinks, snacks and refreshments and treats like cakes, muffins and scones. The outing seating area is also great if you want to relax and dine while watching the nature and surrounding. There's plenty of benches and green spaces so bring your own packed lunches and snacks and have your own family picnic!
