Victoria Park
Victoria Park is a famous park in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, visited by approximately 9 million people every year. In 2011, the park underwent a major restoration and refurbishment and this included an exciting adventure playground for children of all ages to enjoy as well as a Chinese pagoda and new flower displays. There are canals, ponds and the option to play sports like tennis at the tennis courts. A number of events are also held at Victoria Park such as open air concerts and festivals throughout the year particularly during the summer. The park has stunning decorative gardens and wild natural areas where you can roam free and take in the beauty of nature. Furthermore, it offers a variety of events such as sports days, wildlife clubs and fairgrounds, providing a great day for the whole family. Victoria Park is free to the public and is open 365 days in the year.
Playgrounds & Pool
Victoria Park has two playgrounds on both sides and a skatepark on the east side. There is a club called 'One O'Clock Club' for children under age 5 including summer programmes and activities. Victoria Splash Pool is a paddling pool great for kids who love water play. The pool is open from 1pm until 5pm during the summer months so it's a great opportunity to take the kids there after they've broken up from school, during the summer holidays.
The V&A playground is an adventurous playground, more suitable for older children. There are big climbing frame structures as well as one of the biggest slides ever!
Food & Drink
Victoria Park has two cafes- The Park Cafe on the east side and The Pavilion Cafe on the west side. The Park Cafe offers a variety of international foods such as Indian foods. They also have hot and cold drinks to refresh yourself as well as water bowls scattered around for dogs. The Pavilion Cafe is a lovely spot to grab some light foods like sandwiches, bread and salads. There are also brunch and breakfast foods like eggs Florentine and various fried eggs as well as vegetarian options. Enjoy delicious treats like cakes and puddings as well, sit outside and look out over the boating lake. Take a stroll along Regent's Canal from the park to Limehouse and find some nice pubs such as The Palm Tree to dine at on the way, with great food, outdoor seating and a lovely atmosphere.
