Natural History Museum

The National History Museum, located in South Kensington is one of the most well-known museums in London visited by tourists from all over the world. Explore the world of 8o million specimens including collections of ancient bones and fossils and a magnificent dinosaur exhibition. This interactive experience of discovering specimens such as Hope which is a 126-year-old, 25 metre blue whale hanging from the ceiling is very intriguing! There are two sections to the museum- The Life Galleries which is dedicated to zoology, palaeontology and human biology, and the Earth Galleries which is about the Earth's history, Mineral Resources and Geology.

Children/Family activities

The Dinosaur Gallery is one of the most popular parts of the museum that your kids will love. The Blue Zone, which is where the dinosaur skeletons are, has a really cool earthquake stimulator as well as a robotized T-Rex that moves and makes the experience an interactive fun one for children. There are plenty of activities you and the family can do and a variety of events too such as early morning yoga, silent discos and dinosaur sleepovers. Dino Snores for Kids' is an unforgettable experience for kids aged 7 to 11 where they can hang out at the Museum after it closes while getting creative with workshops and taking part in educational activities. 'Investigate' is a science centre for families with children aged 7+. This is another opportunity for the family to spend time with their kids and have a hands-on experience with a range of interesting objects like fossils, bones, minerals etc.

There are plenty of cafes and restaurants around the Museum where you can sit down and have a rest and enjoy snacks, meals, a hot or cold drink or a treat. There are vegetarian and dairy free options too.

There are 2 car parks- one next to the Museum on Akeman Street and the other off Hastoe Lane. Please note: the car parks get occupied quickly during half-terms and other busy periods.
