National Maritime Museum

The National Maritime Museum, established in 1937 and located in Greenwich, London is the world's largest maritime museum. Learn about the fascinating stories of exploration and the lives of seamen and well-known characters like Christopher Columbus at sea as well as interesting objects and galleries. There are four galleries- Tudor and Stuart Seafarers, Pacific Encounters, Polar Worlds and Sea Things and these galleries cover British and European exploration from the 15th century until now. Admission to the Museum is free however prices for certain events and exhibitions may vary.

Children/Family activities

There's plenty to do for families with kids! Explore the Great Map, a giant atlas from which you can see the world, join events and play interactive games. It's free and suitable for all ages! There are also fun family trails from the Play and Explore trolley on the Great Map to choose from to help with your exploration. The trails can help guide you around the galleries, searching for people, discovering new objects and learn exciting stories. Make your experience an unforgettable one! On Tuesdays, there's a fun adventure for children under 5 where they can explore the Museum though singing, dancing and storytelling, making it informative through interaction.

Food/Drink

The Parkside Cafe & Terrace is a beautiful spot with a view of Greenwich Royal Park, to relax and enjoy a delicious meal for breakfast or lunch. There's also a lovely Royal Afternoon Tea to have with lovely treats. Open daily from 10am-5pm. The Great Map Cafe is an open-plan cafe and is located along the Great Map. Enjoy a hot drink or some classic British sandwiches and sweet cakes. There's also a special lunchbox for children.
