Hackney City Farm

Hackney City Farm is a city farm with a wide variety of animals such as pigs, cattle, sheep, chickens, geese, rabbits, guinea pigs and many more! Facilities include a farmyard, an area for grazing, a garden and a tree nursery with a fascinating butterfly house. This farm aims to encourage kids to learn about the natural environment and caring for animals and to give the provide the opportunity for the local community to experience farming.

Children & Family activities

There are many events, exhibitions, projects and courses great for children and families to learn from. At an Animal Handling workshop, kids learn about the animals and have the opportunity to work with them. This workshop aims to promote kindness towards people and animals, build the confidence of children to be around the animals and learn new things. For more information including prices, click here. Have fun grooming sessions with a donkey, pony or a goat where you learn how to handle them and feed them. This costs £50 per person for 1 hour. For bookings, email cj@hackneycityfarm.co.uk.

Children aged 7-16 can take part in drawing and painting from observation classes where they learn about traditional methods of copying from masters & photos and improve their artistic skills. The Mini Farmers Club is perfect for kids aged 8-17 to learn about the animals and nature and to have fun with arts & crafts activities for free! The sessions last an hour and are held on Saturday mornings from 10.30 to 12.30.

Food/Drink

Frizzante offers fresh foods that are cooked on the premises, with some ingredients coming from the farm's own vegetable gardens. There is a breakfast and lunch menu including vegan and vegetarian options.
